Fit India Movement presented by PM Modi Why is stamina so important?


August 29 is National Sports Day. To commemorate the significance of the day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the national Fit India Movement at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi. The program aims to encourage people to make exercise and sports a part of their daily lives. He also took an oath of allegiance to the event. Ahead of the event, on the August 25 Man Ki Baat radio show, PM Modi had called on people to come forward and actively participate in the Fit India Movement. In the speech, he also urged people to visit famous places and to visit places associated with nature and wildlife.


Government officials, members of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), national sports federations, NGOs, and strong advocates such as Shilpa Shetty and Milind Soman met to form a government advisory committee on the Fit India Movement. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju chairs the 28-member committee.

There is no shortcut to health and fitness. Speaking at the Fit India Movement event, PM Modi said a healthy India was her goal and urged people to take control of their lifestyle.
